Australia (Match Odds – 1.62):

Preview:

Australia is under pressure to perform better in the upcoming home series against England and the West Indies following their early exit from the T20I World Cup in their own backyard.

They have assembled their best and most powerful squad for this series. Pat Cummins has proven to be a strong leader and is the right choice to captain this side in the One-Day Internationals.

With Alex Carey back in the side to keep wickets, he will play an important role in the middle order. He has been a consistent down the order over the years and will be a key player to keep an eye on.

With Finch out, Australia must now determine who will be the best choice to be Warner’s opening partner. At 3 and 4, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne have been the preferred options.

Cameron Green, who has opened for Australia in T20Is, is a viable option. He bats more aggressively and can help Australia get off to a good start.

Green, a bowling all-rounder, has shown great promise with both the bat and the ball and will almost certainly make the XI. Other batting all-rounders in this squad, such as Travis Head and Marcus Stoinis, are also important to Australia’s dominance.

The usual suspects make up the bowling attack. Cummins will lead a pace trio that includes Hazlewood and Starc, as well as leg-break bowler Adam Zampa.

Full Squad:

Pat Cummins (c), Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa

Players to watch out for:

David Warner

The 2021 T20 World Cup Player of the Series struggled in the 2022 tournament, but has an ODI average of 44.60 from 136 innings.

Travis Head

In his last 15 ODI innings, the right-hander has an ERA of 45.53. In his last 12 innings in this format, he has six 50-plus hits, including one century.

Mitch Starc

The left-arm pace bowler was surprisingly left out of Australia’s final 2022 T20 World Cup game, but he has 22 wickets in his last nine One-Day Internationals.

Possible Playing XI:

David Warner, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey (wk), Cameron Green, Sean Abbott, Pat Cummins (c), Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa

England (Match Odds – 2.30):

Preview:

After a successful T20 World Cup campaign, Jos Buttler and company will be at the top of their game as they resume their Australia tour. They will be buoyed by the championship victory, as well as the earlier series victory over Australia on this tour.

The two teams last met in an ODI series in Australia in 2018. With a 4-1 victory, England emerged victorious. Many players from that series are still on the ODI team.

England’s top order of Jason Roy, James Vince, and Jos Buttler looks dangerous with the bat. In sharp contrast to Australia’s selections, England has focused heavily on bowling all-rounders.

Five of England’s six all-rounders are bowling all-rounders. England must determine their middle order and assign roles to players who will be in charge of building the innings.

England’s last white-ball tour of Australia featured Joe Root and Eoin Morgan in the middle order. Someone needs to step up and take on the role of dependable middle-order batsman.

In the middle order, Sam Billings is the clear favorite. Then there’s Moeen Ali, and if Malan is fit enough to join the ODI squad, Buttler can drop down the order, as he did during their 2018 tour of Australia.

Sam Curran and Chris Woakes are the most promising batters in the lower order, with the ability to score off the pacers. There is no shortage of bowling options, and with their current bowling form, England will be lethal when they take the field.

Full Squad:

Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Olly Stone, James Vince, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Luke Wood

Players to watch out for:

Jos Buttler

The keeper-batsman captains the team but bats in the middle order in this format. He has 10 ODI centuries, including a top score of 162 not out.

James Vince

The talented top-order batsman will make his first ODI appearance since July 2021. In recent years, he has been in superb form for Hampshire in both T20 and first-class cricket.

Adil Rashid

The leg-spinner bowled an outstanding spell in the T20 World Cup Final and came close to winning the Player of the Match award. On this pitch, he’ll enjoy having the ball in his hands.

Possible Playing XI:

Jason Roy, James Vince, Jos Buttler (c & wk), Philip Salt, Sam Billings, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid

Australia vs England Top Team Batsmen

Our batting recommendations for Australia are David Warner, Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne. Warner is the betting favorite to be Australia’s leading run scorer, and he frequently saves his best performances for games against England. Smith only played once during the T20 World Cup and will be eager to play in this match.

We believe Jason Roy, Jos Buttler, and Phil Salt will be England’s top batters. Roy was not selected for the T20 World Cup, and the bookmakers believe he will have something to prove in this first game. Buttler enjoys playing on Australia’s fast wickets and will be fired up for this match.

Australia vs England Top Team Bowlers

For Australia, our top picks are Josh Hazlewood, Mitch Starc, and Pat Cummins. Hazlewood has emerged as Australia’s most consistent all-rounder, and he currently has the best odds with the bookies. Cummins’ Test performances improved significantly after assuming the captaincy, and he hopes to do so again.

Our bowling selections for England are Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, and Adil Rashid. Curran was named Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup, and he is the betting favorite to be England’s top bowler. Jordan has a wealth of experience and is frequently underestimated by opposing teams.

Australia vs England Head to Head

Australia leads England by 21 games after 152 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) since 1971. However, England has had the upper hand since September 2015, winning 14 of 19 clashes.

Australia vs England Toss Prediction

Batting first teams have won 47 of the 87 One-Day Internationals played at this venue. Both teams have a potent bowling attack that can hold a high total. Given the assistance that batters receive from this pitch, either of these teams, batting first, can post a competitive total.

Australia vs England Pitch Report

The first match of this ODI series will be played at Adelaide Oval. In ODIs, the average first-innings score at this venue is 228 runs. A team has scored 250 or more runs at this Adelaide venue 31 times in 87 matches.

The Adelaide Oval pitch is regarded as one of the best in Australia for batting. However, the spinners can benefit from this pitch as well. Adil Rashid and Ashton Agar have the potential to make an impact and should be kept an eye on.

Australia vs England Prediction

Australia will return after a brief period of reflection on their recent T20 World Cup performance. They will be missing their former ODI captain. Despite this, they have chosen their strongest ODI squad, complete with a lethal bowling attack and a deep batting lineup. England, who are strong on the bowling front, have a few batting boxes to check. Australia will start as favorites in our match prediction due to home advantage and a slightly stronger squad. Check out the odds at Cricbaba!

Australia is the favourite to beat England at the odds of 1.62.

Australia vs England Most Recommended Player for Bet:

Mitch Starc has taken 12 wickets in his last 13 One-Day Internationals, and the left-arm quick bowler is a good bet to be Australia’s top wicket taker in this match. In this match at the Adelaide Oval, we recommend backing Mitch Starc to take over 2.5 wickets.
