International Friendlies: Mexico vs Cameroon – Preview and Updates

On Sunday, Mexico and Cameroon will face off in an international friendly at the Snapdragon Stadium.

Mexico has remained unbeaten since losing 2-0 to Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stage. After a heartbreaking World Cup exit, the team went on to win two games and draw two others.

On Wednesday, they defeated Guatemala 2-0 in an international friendly. Raul Jimenez scored from the penalty spot in the 14th minute to give El Tri the lead before Roberto de la Rosa put the game out of reach.

The scoreline was perhaps a little unfair to Mexico, as Guatemala created numerous chances as well. Mexico has the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals later this month and is hoping to get some wind in their sails before then.

Cameroon made an impression in Qatar despite losing in the group stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. After losing 1-0 to Switzerland in their first group-stage game, Cameroon held Serbia to a 3-3 tie before defeating Brazil 1-0 in their final game.

They have won one, lost two, and drawn one of their four African Nations Championship matches since then. Cameroon will have a long journey to the Snapdragon Stadium on Sunday, and they may experience jet lag.

Mexico and Cameroon will face off in the International Friendlies on 11th June 2023 at the Snapdragon Stadium.

Mexico (Winning Odds – 1.80):

Team News:

With a crucial game against the United States on the horizon, Cocca could rest some of his key players, including Jimenez, Carlos Rodriguez, and veteran defender Nestor Araujo.

With his goal against Guatemala, Jimenez moved into seventh place on the country’s all-time scoring list, level with Luis Roberto Alves, who played 84 senior matches.

De La Rosa impressed last time out, and the 27-year-old, who made his international debut in April, could be rewarded with a starting spot.

Statistics for Mexico and Cameroon

Mexico

Prior to the Guatemala match a couple of days ago, the Aztecs had a couple of games that we should discuss to give you more context. For example, consider the Argentina World Cup match. Lionel Messi and his teammates went on to win the tournament after a sensational run of games, but they could have been eliminated by Mexico had the Aztecs been a little more focused on the game on November 26th, 2022.

Cameroon

The Indomitable Lions have been extremely active in recent months. First, they competed in the World Cup in Qatar, where they made a good impression with their performance. The 1-0 victory over five-time World Champion Brazil was the highlight of their performance. Cameroon won admirably thanks to a late 92nd-minute Vincent Aboubakar goal, but coach Rigobert Song has many players at his disposal who can put a dent in our Mexico vs Cameroon predictions’ chances of success.
