England vs Afghanistan – While the Trans Tasmanian rivalry will dominate the first day of the Super 12, Perth will see a nearly one-sided contest. Fans may believe it is unfair to label the match as one-sided because the Afghanistan squad contains some extremely talented players.

In the recent Asia Cup, Afghanistan held Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to a low total and easily chased it down. They did the same during their previous tour to Zimbabwe, where they won the T20I series 3-0.

A lot is riding on Afghanistan’s bowlers as they take on the mighty English batting order. England’s batting lineup is deep, with many big-hitting and in-form batters.

With their significant contributions in the run chase, Harry Brook and Sam Curran demonstrated how valuable they can be lower down the order. England’s opening pair of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales is ideal. On their best day, the two can win the game in the powerplay.

Mohammad Nabi appears to be in great form with the bat ahead of the Super 12. The captain has a wealth of experience and will play an important role. Nabi has also played plenty of T20 cricket in England, where he was a match-finisher for Kent on numerous occasions.

Afghanistan’s innings will be opened by Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai. Zazai hasn’t been in the best of form recently, and he struggled to play his strokes freely even during the Asia Cup.

He and his partner Gurbaz struggled to get going in both warm-up matches. The players in the lower order who can deliver quick runs are a plus for Afghanistan ahead of this match.

Mohammad Nabi and Usman Ghani are Afghanistan’s key players at 6 and 7, respectively, while Rashid Khan can come in at number 8 and deliver a few quick sixes. So there is a lot of potential for finishing the innings on a high note or successfully chasing down a total.
