West Indies tour of UAE 2023: UAE vs West Indies – 3rd ODI Preview and Updates

UAE vs West Indies – The West Indies won the second ODI to clinch the series. And they will now be aiming for a clean sweep by defeating the UAE for the third time in a row in Sharjah. Both teams can take a lot away from the second match. The UAE bowlers were quite impressive in their approach to the Windies middle-order, never allowing any partnership to flourish.

West Indies continued to back Keacy Carty at number three, while Hope was ranked fifth. However, none of these batters managed to hit a home run. And failing against the UAE will be extremely disappointing.

It was never going to be easy for the home team to chase a 300-plus total. Their batters though promising aren’t up to the mark yet. Whenever they get to a decent score, the strike rates are really low. There is still a long way to go for UAE when it comes to batting against world-class bowlers.

The 3rd ODI between United Arab Emirates vs West Indies will take place on June 9th, 2023 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.

UAE (Match Odds – 6.30):

Preview:

Despite losing by a large margin in the second ODI, UAE should take some positives from that game. After Ali Naseer made the first breakthrough, their bowlers performed admirably.

Naseer broke the 129-run opening stand between King and Charles, and the rest of the bowlers quickly joined in to get through the middle order, reducing the Windies to 249-7.

The hosts delivered a commendable bowling performance. Afzal Khan had two for 45, while Zahoor Khan had three for 44 for the UAE. The late flourish from the big-hitting Odean Smith allowed West Indies to surpass 300 runs and shift the momentum in their favor.

The UAE should learn from this. To win games against top-tier teams, they must maintain their advantage and not let it slip away. They should be able to finish the ball well.

There is no good news in terms of batting. The few good performances aren’t having much of an impact on the game, and the strike rate isn’t either.

They require collaboration. However, there is one key takeaway for the UAE from this series’ batting. Ali Naseer has been very impressive in the lower order, and while the rest of the team looked out of shape, he delivered two consecutive fifties.

Skipper Waseem, as well as Aravind and Asif Khan in the middle order, must step up and deliver partnerships if UAE is to recover.

Full Squad:

Muhammad Waseem, Aayan Afzal Khan, Adhitya Shetty, Ali Naseer, Ansh Tandon, Vriitya Aravind, Asif Khan, Basil Hameed, Ethan D’Souza, Fahad Nawaz, Jonathan Figy, Junaid Siddique, Lovepreet Singh, Matiullah Khan, Karthik Meiyappan, Mohammed Faraazuddin, Muhammad Jawadullah, Rameez Shahzad, Rohan Mustafa, Sanchit Sharma, Aryansh Sharma, Zahoor Khan, Lovepreet Bajwa

Players to watch out for:

Vriitya Aravind

In his 49th ODI, the 20-year-old has established himself as one of the most dependable players in their top order in recent years.

Ali Naseer

After impressing with 58 runs in the first match of the series, Naseer produced 57 runs on Tuesday and appears to be a key player for UAE for many years to come.

Aayan Afzal Khan

The left-arm spinner restricts runs and takes wickets. Despite being only 17, he has excellent line and length control.

Possible Playing XI:

Muhammad Waseem (c), Aryansh Sharma (wk), Vriitya Aravind, Lovepreet Singh, Asif Khan, Basil Hameed, Ali Naseer, Aayan Afzal Khan, Sanchit Sharma, Adhitya Shetty, Zahoor Khan

West Indies (Match Odds – 1.12):

Preview:

In the first ODI, there were signs of trouble in the middle order. The middle-order issues didn’t seem as serious because it was a low target and King scored a hundred.

However, seeing the team go from a strong position of 151-2 to 249-7 against a team like UAE is cause for concern. Shai Hope hasn’t appeared at ease in the crease. Though he hit two sixes and was unbeaten on 13 off four balls in the first ODI, he was far from his best in the second.

The good news is that King has been consistent at the top, and Charles has joined him in dominating the home team’s bowling attack. Keacy Carty got off to a good start in the second ODI but failed to convert it into anything meaningful.

Roston Chase was inserted ahead of Shai Hope, but the all-rounder was unable to form any partnerships in the middle order. In terms of the middle order, Hope will be looking to turn things around quickly and end the series on a high note. West Indies’ top-tier bowling attack will once again pose a difficult challenge to the hosts. And it is the West Indies’ bowling that gives them a clear advantage over the UAE.

Full Squad:

Shai Hope (c), Brandon King, Alick Athanaze, Shamarh Brooks, Yannic Cariah, Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Dominic Drakes, Kavem Hodge, Akeem Jordan, Gudakesh Motie, Keemo Paul, Raymon Reifer, Odean Smith, Devon Thomas

Players to watch out for:

Brandon King

No one has hit more home runs in this series than King. West Indies’ top scorer in both matches so far has been the opener.

Shai Hope

The captain has allowed other players to bat ahead of him in the series. He has an excellent ODI record and will be ready to perform if needed in this match.

Roston Chase

In the first two games of the series, the all-rounder has three wickets. In this game, he’ll get plenty of turns once more.

Possible Playing XI:

Brandon King, Johnson Charles, Shamarh Brooks, Shai Hope (c & wk), Keacy Carty, Kavem Hodge, Roston Chase, Yannic Cariah, Odean Smith, Akeem Jordan, Dominic Drakes

UAE vs West Indies Batsmen Worth Watching

Our UAE batting picks are Vriitya Aravind, Ali Naseer, and Basil Hameed. In the second ODI, Hameed scored 49 runs, including one four and three sixes. Naseer has been an excellent addition to UAE’s batting lineup and may be moved up the order in this match.

Brandon King, Johnson Charles, and Shai Hope are our batting options for the West Indies. On Tuesday, Johnson Charles was named Player of the Match after scoring 63 runs off 47 balls. Hope has nearly 4500 ODI runs at an average of 49.86.

UAE vs West Indies Bowlers Worth Watching

Our bowling recommendations for the UAE are Ali Nasser, Zahoor Khan, and Aayan Afzal Khan. In Tuesday’s ODI, Zahoor Khan was the only player on either side to take three wickets. Nasser has been impressive with the bat, but he also took two wickets in the previous game.

For the West Indies, we recommend Roston Chase, Dominic Drakes, and Kavem Hodge. In the second ODI, Hodge had figures of 2-46 from eight overs. Drakes bowled with accuracy and pace on Tuesday and was very economical.

UAE vs West Indies Head to Head

UAE vs West Indies Toss Prediction

The decision to bat first is straightforward. It is difficult to chase a large total on this ground because it becomes difficult to bat in the second innings. Though the West Indies can restrict UAE to a low total and chase it down, they would prefer to bat first in order to improve their middle-order performance.

UAE vs West Indies Pitch Report

The third and final ODI of this three-match series will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. So far in this series, the bowlers have been quite impressive on this ground, and they will continue to dominate things in this match as well. If the team batting first can reach 270 runs, they will be in a strong position to win the match.

It is an excellent batting wicket that also provides turn for spinners as the game progresses. It is not an easy wicket to score runs on, and batters will need to be precise in their timing to take advantage of the smaller boundaries on the ground. On the day of the match, Sharjah will have clear skies and a high temperature of 37 degrees Celsius.

UAE vs West Indies Prediction

The UAE bowling attack was effective, causing a batting collapse in the Windies lineup. However, it appears that the home team is still a long way from defeating the Windies in an ODI. The batters are trailing the West Indies bowling attack by a long shot. Their best chance of winning is to score at least 250 points and bowl the best game of their careers to defend that total. Based on their current form, the West Indies appear to have a clear advantage and will start as favorites to win. Check out the odds at Cricbaba!

West Indies is the favourite to beat UAE at the odds of 1.12.

UAE vs West Indies Most Recommended Player for Bet:
