Indian Premier League 2023: Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings – 67th Match Preview and Updates

CSK are just one win away from making the playoffs. In their final league match, they will face the DC challenge in Delhi. The Delhi Capitals were outstanding in their most recent match at Dharamsala, where the top three batters went berserk, taking the DC total to 213 batting first.

Rossouw was in fantastic form, and the openers looked equally so. At Kotla, there have been some high-scoring games, with teams batting second winning four of the six matches. While DC failed to chase down a 168-run target in their previous match here, their recent victory must have given them confidence.

A good batting deck will be beneficial to Chennai as well. Shivam Dube, Conway, and Gaikwad will enjoy playing their strokes when the ball comes easily onto the bat.

Given the strength of the opposition’s bowling attack, CSK will not have an easy outing. Axar Patel, Ishant Sharma, and Khaleel Ahmed are all capable of making a significant impact and delivering breakthroughs.

The 67th Match between Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings will take place on May 20th, 2023 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings

Delhi Capitals (Match Odds – 2.20):

Preview:

The Delhi Capitals were recently eliminated from contention for the playoffs. Both David Warner and Prithvi Shaw were inconsistent with the bat this season, failing to consistently deliver a solid start.

Warner has once again demonstrated his brilliance as a captain. It would have been a different picture today if he could also back it up with the destructive power he’s known for.

Warner will once again back his batters in their final match of the season at Kotla. Rilee Rossouw scored 82 off 37 deliveries at number three against Punjab on a fantastic batting pitch in Dharamsala.

With Warner, Rossouw, and Phillip Salt in the top four, the Delhi Capitals’ batting appears to be quite potent. These three can hit the long ball as much as they want, and if Shaw maintains his form, it will be another high-scoring game in Delhi.

Only Axar Patel is dependable in the lower middle order. He has the ability to pitch quick innings at the end of games. Manish Pandey, on the other hand, has not lived up to expectations and has failed to build the innings in the middle overs.

The overseas batters in this lineup will have a lot riding on their shoulders, and they will have to carry DC on their shoulders. The pacers are in good form and look promising with the ball, while Axar Patel will be the key bowler for DC.

Full Squad:

David Warner (c), Prithvi Shaw, Ripal Patel, Rovman Powell, Sarfaraz Khan, Yash Dhull, Mitchell Marsh, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, Chetan Sakariya, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Khaleel Ahmed, Lungi Ngidi, Mustafizur Rahman, Aman Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Praveen Dubey, Vicky Ostwal, Ishant Sharma, Phil Salt, Mukesh Kumar, Manish Pandey, Rilee Rossouw

Players to watch out for:

David Warner

In his last innings against Punjab Kings, the Australian captain scored 46 runs off 31 balls, including five fours and two sixes.

Rilee Rossouw

Despite failing to live up to his high scoring reputation in IPL 2023, the South African was named Player of the Match with 82 not out from 37 balls.

Anrich Nortje

In the previous game, the pace bowler dismissed Jitesh Sharma and Sam Curran. In 106 T20 matches, he has 141 wickets.

Possible Playing XI:

David Warner (c), Prithvi Shaw, Philip Salt (wk), Rilee Rossouw, Axar Patel, Aman Hakim Khan, Yash Dhull, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed

Chennai Super Kings (Match Odds – 1.67):

Preview:

Chennai Super Kings will be disappointed with their recent home loss to KKR. The batters were unable to put up a respectable total on a Chepauk pitch that was quite different from previous days. Deepak Chahar is in excellent form right now and is consistently delivering for CSK.

In the powerplay, he’ll be a player to keep an eye on against Warner and Shaw. A couple of wickets in the powerplay would make a Delhi comeback nearly impossible. CSK should be wary of the destructive power of in-form Rossouw and Phil Salt, who will take the attack to the inexperienced CSK bowlers.

MS Dhoni will need a solid strategy to counter the DC batting. In the middle overs, Jadeja would be crucial against the likes of Rossouw.

If the pitching isn’t as slow as it was in the previous game here, the opposition only needs one of their powerhitters to stay until the end. Then it would be Salt or Rossouw against Pathirana, which would not be a good matchup for CSK.

Ajinkya Rahane will be a key player in the middle order, and CSK will also be hoping for Jadeja and Moeen Ali to step up and contribute significantly at the death.

Full Squad:

MS Dhoni (c), Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu, Subhranshu Senapati, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Dwaine Pretorius, Mitchell Santner, Ravindra Jadeja, Tushar Deshpande, Mukesh Chowdhary, Matheesha Pathirana, Simarjeet Singh, Deepak Chahar, Prashant Solanki, Maheesh Theekshana, Ajinkya Rahane, Ben Stokes, Shaik Rasheed, Nishant Sindhu, Sisanda Magala, Ajay Mandal, Bhagath Varma

Devon Conway

The left-handed New Zealand opener has a stellar record across all international formats, with a T20 average of 43.99.

The bowling all-rounder is a constant threat in the IPL and has the ability to win a game with either the bat or the ball. He went wicketless in the previous game but scored 20 runs.

Tushar Deshpande

The 28-year-old has had a fantastic season despite going wicketless in the last match against the Delhi Capitals. He’ll be eager to make an impression in this game.

Possible Playing XI:

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana

This decision would be based on the pitch conditions on game day. For the most part of the season, it has been ideal for chasing, with teams bowling first winning four of the six games played here. Both teams have a strong batting lineup, with CSK having more depth, which is ideal for a run chase.

Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings Pitch Report

The Delhi Capitals will play their final home game of the season at Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. The average first innings score on this ground in all IPL matches is 166 runs, but the batting has been much better this year. We believe a total of 185-190 runs would be a match-winning total at this venue.

It has been an excellent batting surface, with many high-scoring matches played on it. Historically, it was a spin-friendly track with little pace and bounce, but this year has seen excellent pace and carry off the surface. On match day, the weather in Delhi will be sunny with a high of 42 degrees Celsius.

Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings Prediction

DC will be returning home after a fantastic win, while CSK will be coming off a home loss to KKR. MS Dhoni and company have already defeated DC this season on a slowish pitch at Chepauk. The visitors’ batting lineup packs a powerful punch, and we anticipate a strong comeback from the batters. While DC is playing fearlessly and will not let CSK get away so easily, MS Dhoni’s leadership will play a significant role in Chennai’s favor. Overall, we believe CSK has an advantage in this match and will be our favorite to win. Check out the odds at Cricbaba!

Chennai Super Kings is the favourite to beat Delhi Capitals at the odds of 1.67.

Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings Most Recommended Player for Bet:
