Sri Lanka Tour of India 2023: India vs Sri Lanka – 3rd T20I Preview and Updates

Despite losing early wickets in the powerplay, India’s batting lineup ensured that the chase went deep and down to the wire.

Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel have given India hope for the future of their Twenty20 team. Hooda led the charge in the first game, and this time it was the reliable Patel.

Sri Lanka, the Asian Champions, have truly come alive and played like champions in this series. They nearly won the first T20I and dominated the second, defeating India by 18 runs.

The new-ball bowlers have been outstanding and will be critical in the final match in Rajkot. Because there isn’t much on offer for bowlers on this pitch, the visitors can only hope to make a few inroads with the new ball.

SKY, Shanaka, Hooda, and Mendis are expected to enjoy batting at this venue, which is said to have one of the best batting surfaces in India.

The 3rd T20I between India vs Sri Lanka will take place on January 7th, 2023 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.

India (Match Odds – 1.37):

Preview:

India must have learned from their batting collapse during the powerplay while chasing a large target in Pune. It wasn’t too big for India’s batting strength, but the top order’s lack of execution against a swinging ball put them on the back foot.

Though Axar Patel and Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant partnership got India back on track to victory, they didn’t have many resources left for the pair to take risks at the death.

Rahul Tripathi, making his T20I debut, got off to a good start with a couple of boundaries. He may be given another chance if Rajkot provides another belter of a batting pitch.

India’s strength in this lineup right now is in the lower-middle order, with Hardik, Hooda, and Axar Patel. Surya in the middle has been outstanding and will be a key player to keep an eye on.

Patel could be India’s new finisher, allowing Pandya to experiment with his own batting position. Nonetheless, with Tripathi at 3, India can expect him to pace the innings with some of his best middle-order shots.

The right-handed batsman can hit the ball at an impressive rate and has all shots in his arsenal. Yuzvendra Chahal has found success on this surface and has the ability to make an impact with his leg spin.

And, because the surface isn’t ideal for bowlers, Mavi must be cautious, as he went for a lot of runs in Pune shortly after his outstanding debut.

Full Squad:

Ishan Kishan(w), Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Tripathi, Hardik Pandya(c), Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel, Shivam Mavi, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Mukesh Kumar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Harshal Patel

Players to watch out for:

Suryakmuar Yadav

Batting with wickets falling around him in the early stages of his innings, Yadav was forced to bat with care and attention. However, once he got going, he demonstrated his wide range of strokes, and we expect more of the same in Rajkot.

Axar Patel

The bowling all-rounder has had an outstanding series. He hit 31 not out at Wankhede Stadium before leading the way with 65 from 31 balls on Thursday after taking 2-24 with the ball.

Umran Malik

After only two wickets in his first three T20Is, the 23-year-old pace bowler appears to be finding his feet at international level. In this series, he has since recorded figures of 2-27 and 3-48.

Possible Playing XI:

Ishan Kishan (wk), Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Tripathi, Hardik Pandya (c), Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel, Shivam Mavi, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal

Sri Lanka (Match Odds – 3.10):

Preview:

Sri Lanka have won this series, extending their dominance over the men in blue from their last meeting in the Asia Cup against India.

The pacers were spot on as they began their defence of a 200-plus total in Pune on a batting-friendly surface. Later in the innings, there was even due on the ground that could have gone India’s way.

Nonetheless, Dasun Shanaka and company were able to maintain their lead and win by an 18-run margin. The bowlers will be ready to face another batting-friendly track in Rajkot.

As a result, the performance of Sri Lankan batters is crucial. Rajapaksa and Dhananjaya de Silva have had difficulty scoring runs.

Despite the fact that their batting order positions were switched in the previous game, they remain an important part of the lineup. And their contributions are essential if Sri Lanka is to win the series decider.

Shanaka cannot always come to the rescue, and Sri Lanka requires other players to step up and complete the task. At number three, Rajapaksa can hit the long ball and push the run rate up, while Charith Asalanka can form partnerships and take the game deep.

Mendis looked sharp in the last game, scoring a quick fifty. In this game, Nissanka will be hoping to improve his strike rate. Watch out for Rajitha, Karunaratne, and Wanindu Hasaranga in the Sri Lankan bowling attack.

Full Squad:

Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis(w), Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka(c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Dilshan Madushanka, Lahiru Kumara, Avishka Fernando, Ashen Bandara, Pramod Madushan, Dunith Wellalage, Nuwan Thushara, Sadeera Samarawickrama

Players to watch out for:

Kusal Mendis

The keeper-batsman hit three fours and four sixes in the second T20I to help his team get off to a fast start. In this format, he has now scored 11 half-centuries.

Dasun Shanaka has scored 56 not out, 45 not out, 33 not out, 74 not out, and 47 not out in his last five T20Is against India. On Thursday, he had a strike-rate of 254.54, which he hopes to improve in this match.

Kasun Rajitha

The 29-year-old right-arm medium-fast bowler, was on fire in Pune. He dismissed both of India’s openers and repeatedly beat the bat.

Possible Playing XI:

Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (wk), Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka (c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Dilshan Madushanka

India vs Sri Lanka Top Team Batsmen

Our batting picks for India are Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill. In this match, Kishan is the favourite to top score at the top of the order. Gill has made some stylish shots, but he still needs to score big in this game to secure a regular spot in the T20I squad.

Our batting recommendations for Sri Lanka are Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, and Dasun Shanaka. Nissanka and looked very solid in the second T20I, scoring 33 points. Shanaka’s form is excellent, and he is capable of hitting sixes off the entire Indian bowling attack.

India vs Sri Lanka Top Team Bowlers

Our picks for India with the ball are Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Umran Malik. On Thursday, Patel bowled the final over of the first T20I as well as the powerplay. He clearly has his captain’s confidence. In the second game of the series, Chahal took a crucial wicket of Kusal Mendis.

Sri Lanka’s top bowlers are Wanindu Hasaranga, Kasun Rajitha, and Dilshan Madushanka, whom we have chosen. Hasaranga is the favourite to be Sri Lanka’s leading wicket-taker, and he almost never fails to take at least one wicket. Madushanka impressed in his opening spell on Thursday before dismissing Tripathi and Yadav.

India vs Sri Lanka Toss Prediction

There have only been four T20Is at this venue, with teams batting first winning two of them. Teams batting second have won six of the ten domestic T20s. Sri Lanka will not risk defending again, knowing India’s batting strength and depth. India has the ability to chase down competitive totals, and Pandya will most likely bowl first.

It is one of India’s best batting pitches, and we can expect a run-fest between these two teams, both of which have a lot of batting firepower in their lineups. The sky will be mostly clear, with a high temperature of 32 degrees Celsius.

India vs Sri Lanka Prediction

Given the collapses in both matches thus far, India’s top order has a few weaknesses. On both occasions, it was the lower order that saved India’s innings, and it is past time for the top and middle order to step up and take the lead. Though Sri Lanka won the last T20I in Pune, the pitch conditions here make for a close match that could go either way. Both teams’ lineups include some power hitters. We believe India has a batting advantage over the visitors and will start as favourites in our match prediction. Check out the odds at Cricbaba!

India is the favourite to beat Sri Lanka at the odds of 1.37.

India vs Sri Lanka Most Recommended Player for Bet:
