Chennai Super Kings batted first and got off to a flying start. Nobody could have predicted the absolute blitz from Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube. It was an outstanding performance to score 235 runs while losing four wickets. Ajinkya Rahane scored 71 runs in 29 balls, while Dewon Convey and Shivam Dube added half centuries.

The bowlers had a relatively easy task with such a massive total on the board. The new ball bowlers were fantastic in preventing the Kolkata Knight Riders from getting off to a fast start. Taking wickets at regular intervals did not help KKR get any closer to their target. Chennai Super Kings won the game by a margin of 49 runs.
