Last season, Lucknow Super Giants made their IPL debut but did not play a single match in Lucknow. LSG will begin their IPL journey in 2023 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. KL Rahul will look to extend LSG’s undefeated streak against the Delhi Capitals in the IPL as the two teams meet for the third time.
They have made a few changes, but the core remains the same. Rishabh Pant was ruled out of the IPL due to serious injuries sustained in an accident. David Warner will now captain the team, and DC will enter the season with only one wicket-keeper batsman, Phil Salt.
With the addition of England’s pacer Mark Wood, Lucknow’s bowling attack will look even stronger this year. In the DC setup, Ishant Sharma will be a key bowler to keep an eye on. He can lead the pace attack, and the likes of Sakariya and Nagarakoti will benefit from his guidance and support.
The 3rd Match between Lucknow Super Giants vs Delhi Capitals will take place on April 1st, 2023 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.

Lucknow Super Giants (Match Odds – 2.00):
Preview:
All eyes will be on KL Rahul, who has faced a barrage of criticism from fans in recent months. His place on the national team has been called into question.
He was chastised for his strike rate in the previous IPL, and it was his refusal to play more aggressively that ultimately knocked LSG out of the playoffs. Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, and Quinton de Kock will remain in this LSG side’s top four.
These are the key players in the batting order who can make or break their team’s chances of winning. The LSG squad contains a large number of all-rounders, which allows for a diverse bowling attack. With Krishanppa Gowtham coming in at number 8, LSG has plenty of batting depth.
Daniel Sams will join the Super Giants this season and will be seen in the late middle order as a match-finisher. Another key batsman to keep an eye on is Ayush Badoni.
Mohsin Khan, a left-arm fast-medium bowler, captured everyone’s attention last year with 14 wickets from 9 matches at an economy rate of 5.97. In their second meeting last season, he went 4 for 16 against DC. Other key bowlers in the LSG squad who will be expected to deliver breakthroughs include Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan.
Full Squad:
KL Rahul (c), Ayush Badoni, Karan Sharma, Manan Vohra, Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Krishnappa Gowtham, Deepak Hooda, Kyle Mayers, Krunal Pandya, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Mark Wood, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Nicholas Pooran, Jaydev Unadkat, Yash Thakur, Romario Shepherd, Daniel Sams, Amit Mishra, Prerak Mankad, Swapnil Singh, Naveen-ul-Haq, Yudhvir Charak

Players to watch out for:
KL Rahul
In the previous edition, the 30-year-old Indian batsman scored the team’s highest total of 484 runs. However, his form has deteriorated in recent months. The IPL 2023 could be the ideal opportunity for the LSG captain to reclaim his place in the squad for the ICC World Cup later this year.
Avesh Khan
In his last eight games for LSG, the electrifying right-arm pacer took 10 wickets. His only issue was his economy rate, which was leaking more than 8.8 runs per over. This 27-year-old pacer will be critical in helping his team secure early wickets with the new ball during the powerplay.
Krunal Pandya
The Indian all-rounder can not only provide a quality finish to LSG, but he can also take vital wickets in the middle overs. Given that the Lucknow wicket allows Krunal to spin the ball both ways, he is much more likely to complete his four overs.
Possible Playing XI:
KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Ayush Badoni, K Gowtham, Daniel Sams, Mohsin Khan, Mark Wood, Ravi Bishnoi
Delhi Capitals (Match Odds – 1.90):
Preview:
David Warner has a fantastic opportunity to redeem himself. He lost his captaincy at SRH and was later dropped from the XI. As Hyderabad persisted with Williamson, he was signed by DC in the mega auction.
In 2016, Warner led SRH to their first title win. He is back as captain, this time for the Delhi Capitals. He has a fantastic squad from which to select his team and score the first points.
This season, DC should consider Sarfaraz Khan. He stole the show during the domestic season with some outstanding performances. Rilee Rossouw and Phil Salt have also joined DC this year. This squad has a lot of firepower with players like Shaw, Warner, Powell, Salt, and Sarfaraz Khan.
Axar Patel is a strong finisher with plenty of experience in the lower middle order. Mitchell Marsh is another key player Warner is considering including in his starting XI. There have been no changes in the all-rounders department, but there has been a significant change in the bowling department.
Ishant Sharma replaces Shardul Thakur, which could put DC in a strong position. Chetan Sakariya has performed admirably and is a promising young bowler in this lineup. Nortje will be one to watch with the new ball, though LSG used him effectively last season.
Full Squad:
David Warner (c), Prithvi Shaw, Ripal Patel, Rovman Powell, Sarfaraz Khan, Yash Dhull, Mitchell Marsh, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, Chetan Sakariya, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Khaleel Ahmed, Lungi Ngidi, Mustafizur Rahman, Aman Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Praveen Dubey, Vicky Ostwal, Ishant Sharma, Phil Salt, Mukesh Kumar, Manish Pandey, Rilee Rossouw

Players to watch out for:
David Warner
Warner is the only player in IPL history to have won the orange cap three times, and if DC is to compete for a playoff spot this time, he should be chasing his fourth. Warner, who has scored 367 runs in his last ten matches while batting at an average of 52, will need to be at his best as the Capitals will be without Rishabh Pant’s counter-attacking prowess.
Khaleel Ahmed
The left-arm pacer can direct the ball away from the right-handed batsman, allowing him to take early wickets in the powerplay. In his last seven matches, the 25-year-old has taken nine wickets.
Axar Patel
In the absence of Ravindra Jadeja on the international stage, he has emerged as India’s breakthrough player in recent months. With the ability to contribute with both the bat and the ball, Axar will have a chance to clinch wickets for DC as the nature of the wicket favors spinners. Furthermore, his wicket-to-wicket length can benefit him even more on this Lucknow track.
Possible Playing XI:
David Warner (c), Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Phil Salt (wk), Lalit Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Chetan Sakariya
