Zimbabwe (Match Odds – 2.05):

Preview:

Zimbabwe’s recent white-ball performance has been outstanding. They are coming off a home T20I and ODI series win over Bangladesh and will be optimistic about their chances.

Zimbabwe lost their first warm-up game to Sri Lanka, and their next match was rained out against Namibia. Sikandar Raza, their star all-rounder, will be their most important player, and the team’s hopes of progressing to the next stage will rely heavily on him. Raza has been in sensational form this year, smashing three ODI centuries in August alone, earning him the ICC’s coveted Player of the Month award. During Zimbabwe’s unbeaten run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier B campaign, he was also named Player of the Tournament. Raza also has some useful offspin, which will come in handy during the middle overs.

Skipper Craig Ervine, along with Wessly Madhevere, will be counted on to score some runs at the top of the order. Zimbabwe’s best bowling options are pacer Brad Evans and spinning all-rounder Ryan Burl.

Full Squad:

Regis Chakabva(w), Craig Ervine(c), Wesley Madhevere, Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams, Milton Shumba, Ryan Burl, Luke Jongwe, Brad Evans, Tendai Chatara, Blessing Muzarabani, Wellington Masakadza, Richard Ngarava, Tony Munyonga, Clive Madande

Players to watch out for:

Sean Williams

Sean Williams, the team’s previous captain, is a left-handed top-order batter. He has played 58 T20Is and has extensive experience in all formats.

Sikandar Raza

Sikandar Raza is a match winner with both the bat and the ball. In this format, he has five half-centuries and best bowling figures of 4-8.

Blessing Muzarabani

Blessing Muzarabani is a right-arm quick bowler who can get pace and bounce off most surfaces. In Hobart, he should also see some action off the pitch.

Possible Playing XI:

Regis Chakabva (wk), Craig Ervine (c), Wesley Madhevere, Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Ryan Burl, Wellington Masakadza, Tendai Chatara, Blessing Muzarabani, Clive Madande, Brad Evans

Ireland (Match Odds – 1.77):

Preview:

Ireland has not reached the knockout stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup since 2009, and they will be hoping for a change this year. They face a difficult task because if they fail to beat Zimbabwe, they must beat both Scotland and the West Indies to keep their Super 12 hopes alive.

Ireland has played more than 20 T20Is this year, giving them plenty of practice time before the big tournament. While Kevin O’Brien, who retired earlier this year, will be missed, Ireland still has plenty of depth in their ranks. Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie, for example, provide them with much-needed bat and ball experience. The batting order appears to be in good shape, with Gareth Delany and Harry Tector set to take advantage of the Powerplay overs. Lorcan Tucker, the wicketkeeper, is another player who can sprint through the middle.

Their bowling attack has been weakened by the injury to Craig Young. The pressure is now on pacers Mark Adair and Joshua Little, as well as off-spinner Simi Singh.

Full Squad:

Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie(c), Lorcan Tucker(w), Harry Tector, Gareth Delany, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Joshua Little, Stephen Doheny, Simi Singh, Conor Olphert, Graham Hume, Fionn Hand

Players to watch out for:

Paul Stirling

The side’s vice-captain is the short right-handed opener Paul Stirling. He enters this tournament after participating in the Men’s Hundred and the CPL.

Mark Adair

Mark Adair is a bowling all-rounder who has appeared in over 50 T20Is. In this format, he has 72 wickets with a best of 4-23.

Josh Little

The 22-year-old left-arm quick bowler has already taken 84 international wickets. He is the team’s strike bowler.

Possible Playing XI:

Stephen Doheny, Paul Stirling (c), Lorcan Tucker (wk), Harry Tector, George Dockrell, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair, Simi Singh, Joshua Little, Andrew Balbirnie, Conor Olphert

Zimbabwe vs Ireland Top Team Batsmen

For Zimbabwe, we like Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, and Regis Chakabva at the plate. Chakabva scored a century in an ODI against Bangladesh in August of this year.

We are rooting for Ireland’s batters Paul Stirling, Andy Balbirnie, and Lorcan Tucker. Tucker scored 78 and 50 in T20Is earlier this summer against South Africa and Afghanistan, respectively.

Zimbabwe vs Ireland Top Team Bowlers

Blessing Muzarabani, Sean Williams, and Sikandar Raza are our Zimbabwe bowling picks. Williams has 136 international wickets to his name.

With the ball, we recommend Mark Adair, Josh Little, and Barry McCarthy for Ireland. McCarthy, who took 3-34 against Afghanistan in a T20I in August, should enjoy the conditions in Hobart.

Zimbabwe vs Ireland Head to Head

Across eight T20Is, Zimbabwe and Ireland have been evenly matched. Ireland leads the head-to-head series 5-3, but Zimbabwe won the most recent meeting by five runs in September 2021.

The pitch at Bellerive Oval is ideal for batting. As the ball comes in nicely to the bat, batters find it easy to play their shots. The pitch will likely flatten out after the first few overs, giving seamers some purchase.

On the day of the game, rain and drizzle are expected in Hobart, which may result in a shortened game.

Zimbabwe vs Ireland Prediction

Zimbabwe has won two of the last five T20Is against Ireland, while Ireland has won three. Ireland also won the T20I series between the two sides 3-2 last year and beat Afghanistan by a similar margin at home in August this year. Their bowling, on the other hand, is a little shaky right now, which could hurt them in the T20 World Cup. Zimbabwe will have a good chance if Sikandar Raza plays, but Ireland’s batting appears to be a little more solid. Check out the odds at Cricbaba!

Ireland is the favourite to beat Zimbabwe at the odds of 1.77.

Zimbabwe vs Ireland Most Recommended Player for Bet:

Josh Little has taken at least one wicket in all but one of her last 15 appearances with the ball. He is a strong contender to be Ireland’s leading wicket-taker against Zimbabwe. Little has a strong T20I bowling record, and we recommend betting on him to take over 1.5 wickets.
